Wow Record high's are upon us!

My goodness can you believe just a couple of weeks ago we were complaining about rain and cool temperatures? Well no more. We have now truly hit SUMMER TIME. I have to say this even though I know that all of you know it already, water water water drink lots of water and use sunscreen. Children especially do not know when they need to stop until it is way to late. When they stop and tell you they are thirsty and tired then you really need to be watching them for signs of heat stroke, heat exhaustion, dehydration, or even a heart attack. Yes children can die in a matter of minutes because of too much sun and being over heated.
Simple precaution can make all the difference in summer fun, first remember sunscreen, even if you choose not to wear it your child really needs it. Think of it like this, if he/she get a sunburn he/she is going to be miserable and when our little ones are miserable everyone around them are miserable and the more miserable they are the more miserable everyone else is. See my point? For sunscreen I use Neutrogena pure & free baby sunscreen SPF 60+ or 100+. Now I normally do not endorse any one product but I have had several children with extreme eczema and the only sunscreen the doctors recommended was the Neutrogena pure & free baby sunscreen SPF 60+ or 100+ and it works really good to.
Second: Water water water. Again, you may choose soda, coffee, tea or whatever but the children really need water. Not kool-Aid, sports drinks or any other sweet drink they need water. Plain old simple down to earth water. You say your child doesn't drink water, tell them yes you do. You say I can't get or I can't make my child drink water. I say your right you can't but you can stop offering him all the other sweet drinks and he will start drinking the water. Habits are hard to break but not impossible.
third: REST, now I do not mean a nap, although that is a good idea also but for now I am talking about stopping the running and playing in the hot sun sitting down in the shade drinking some cool water maybe reapply some sunscreen eat some fruit. I suggest doing this at least once an hour. For me I have a timer here and I have it set for 15 minutes and the children know that when it goes off they have to come in, meaning come to the canopy, to get a drink of cool water and then they can go back and play. Then every hour they have to come to the canopy and sit for 15 minutes. I generally use this time to read to the children, give them a snack, sing songs, dray, anything that is sedate and calming. Then the children are welcome to head back out for another hour of fun in the sun.
As you read over this I am sure you can now understand how it is that we can be outside all day in the summer, just a few simple tricks of the trade and life is made easy for this particular provider.
Happy Summer Folks.

The Great OutDoors

Outside is a whole new world waiting to be rediscovered every moment of every day for your little ones. Studies have shown for years that being outside improves cognitive development in people but most of all in young children. In an article Mud Pies and Green spaces https://theconversation.com/mud-pies-and-green-spaces-why-children-do-better-when-they-can-get-outdoors-43151 it goes on to state a study of 2500 children being tested and although the margin was small it was higher when children were in a greener area and were able to be outside more. The article "Can green spaces make children smarter?" it goes on to tell that when studied it showed over a period of 12 months yes there was proof of improvement. washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2015/06/15/can-green-spaces-at-schools-make-children-smarter/ whether or not you believe you children will get smarter or not getting outside with your children will bring your children closer to you and develop a closer relationship, vimeo.com/123598809 and at the end of the day that is just as important.

The Fair Is Coming to Town

Oh My Goodness. The fair is coming to town, what better way to have fun and learn at the same time. Can you just imagine all the fun science, technology, math, engineering, language, problem solving, literacy and social development that can go on at the fair? Wow the possibilities are limitless and best of all getting into the fair is absolutely FREE yup that's right you read it right it is FREE. Now of course once you get in they have you. BUT there are ways to fix that in an educational way also. Ever heard of the envelope budget? Now is the time to introduce the youngsters to the "BUDGET". Take your snacks and lunch so that it cuts down on the food cost make sure you pack a cooler full of WATER, water water water must have water to keep hydrated. Then as we all know we are going to do set aside a maximum amount on what we are going to spend on Fair fare. You know what I'm talking about, you know the games, the rides, and best of all the beloved the most delicious mouth watering, ever scrumptious fair food. Then you will not feel cheated and we all feel happy, well at least I do, I'm a sucker for a funnel cake. http://www1.daviscountyutah.gov/fair/fair-home/general-information/map-directions. anyway check it out. The fair comes in August right here in Farmington. I know I will be there.

Grandma Kaiden Gavin Ryker Nana

May 22, 2015 Ashley Wright from Ashley Wright Photography came and did our pictures and amazingly the rain held off until she was done. Of course, as usual, it does not matter when I book her, something always happens with the weather to make me have to adjust my plans, but that's ok Ashley can handle anything. This time though it was as simple as me just getting the children in jeans instead of shorts and making sure we had jackets for that "quick" get warm moment.

These 2 buddies remembered this trail as our treasure hunt where we were also looking for "bears and Snakes". We found the treasures and the only wild animals we came close to finding was 2 stink bugs a frog a 2 really nice dogs.

Gavin
So here is what I want to know........ When did this handsome guy grow up? Where did the little boy from a year and a half go? The one that had problems? The one that needed a group of different professionals? All I see is this confident, secure, well nourished strong young little man that will start kindergarten in the fall. I know I'm good but darn it, it still breaks my heart just as much as it make me proud to see my little one grow and become all they are meant to be......... "sigh"

Gavin ( don't you just LOVE those eyes)

Kaiden

And here is my Kaiden. Wow what a year. What a ham. What a success story. A heart of gold, he just needed someone to show him how to be a friend. Now he has a best friend in Gavin. May have been a rough start but now Kaiden doesn't like not seeing Gavin and Gavin asks for Kaiden when he's not here.

Kaiden loves to say CHEESE

Most days I just have these 3 amigos who I constantly refer to as "my boys" because we are always together and darn if I just can't help but love them to pieces. Tantrums and all. SHHSHHH don't tell them that.

Grandma Nana Ryker Gavin Kaiden
My mom, Ramona, comes over and helps me with the kids, they love her and I enjoy spending time with her and getting the help.

Because lets face it, sitting down chasing boys? Right...... Not happening. Add into that a girl a
real girl no way not in this lifetime or the next.

See what I mean.......... Yah!
